Literature Searches
- Literature searches are provided for any staff member as long as the subject is work related.
- Please use the Library Request Form for literature search requests, journal article requests, book chapter requests, or book loan requests.
Fill out the form as completely as possible. - Requests can also be made by phone (313-343-3733), or e-mail (sjhmedicallibrary@ascension.org).
- A staff member will run the literature search and email you a list of pertinent journal citations, with abstracts (if available).
- Literature searches are run on a first come first served basis and take between 3 and 5 business days.
- If you prefer to do your own searches, most clinical resources (eg: Medline, PubMed, CINAHL, Lexicomp, full text electronic journals and books) can be accessed on the hospital's intranet and do not require an internet ID and password.
Article Requests and Interlibrary Loans
- Article requests are generally filled within a day or two.
- If the Medical Library does not have access to a resource, we can request it from other libraries through interlibrary loan services. Normal turnaround time for interlibrary loans is 1 - 3 business days. You may also request books through interlibrary loan.
- Rush Requests - Rush service is available only for patient emergencies.
